Walgreens Announces New Culture Greetings API Integration for In-Store Greeting Card Pick-up

Tue, 10/27/2020 - 12:45 - Drew Schweinfurth

Walgreens is proud to introduce Culture Greetings as a new integration of the Photo Prints API. Culture Greetings is a woman-led, Black-owned greeting card brand, founded in 2018.

On their website, Culture Greetings allows customers to choose a greeting card, write a personal note using handwritten fonts that mirror real penmanship and click “send,” which cues their state-of-the-art printing press. Traditionally, the company prints and mails the card directly to the recipient the following business day.

Through this integration with the Walgreens Photo Prints API and Store Locator APIs, in addition to the Culture Greetings flagship mail to recipient delivery option, customers will now have the choice to pick up their customized cards at a local Walgreens for pickup within the hour!

“The launching of this new integration reflects a significant first for the API team; as we welcome Culture Greetings founder Dr. Dionne Mahaffey, we acknowledge that she is the first African American female founder to join the platform,” said Drew Schweinfurth, Manager of Developer Relations at Walgreens.

“The addition of Culture Greetings to the Walgreens network digitally and physically expands the greeting card aisle by integrating more diverse and socially reflective options”, Dr. Mahaffey added.

Culture Greetings offers more than 2000 greeting cards featuring imagery centered around and elevating the Black and Brown communities' voices. Card options span both mainstream and cultural holidays, milestone occasions, social justice, and photo-card templates allowing users to create fully customized personal greetings.  Culture Greetings will offer both the Walgreens’ premium and standard card stock.

Additional details of the new API integration include:

  • Photo Prints API for card printing.
  • Store Locator for accurate pickup details
  • Two Card Stock options
  • Same day pickup at any Walgreens or Duane Reade location in the U.S. and Puerto Rico
  • Payment collected at store

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Mahaffey and the Culture Greetings team to the growing list Walgreens API Partners.
